Mille-Feuille Recipe From France

Ingredients:

  • 2 sheets of puff pastry
  • 2 cups of whole milk
  • 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup of cornst
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup of unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup of powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of milk
  • Fondant or powdered sugar for topping

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

  2. Roll out each sheet of puff pastry into a rectangle about

  3. Bake the puff pastry rectangles for 15 to 20 minutes, or until they are golden brown and puffy. Remove them from the oven

  4. To make the pastry cream, heat the milk

  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the sugar, cornstarch, and egg yolks until the mixture is smooth and pale yellow.

  6. Pour the mixture back into the saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens and

  7. Transfer the pastry cream to a bowl and cover it with plastic wrap, pressing the plastic

  8. To assemble the Mille-Feuille, place one of the puff pastry rectangles on a serving

  9. Repeat with a second layer of puff pastry and pastry cream.

  10. Top the final layer of pastry cream with the remaining puff pastry rectangle.

  11. In a separate bowl, whisk together the softened butter

  12. Cover the Mille-Feuille with fondant or sprinkle it with powdered sugar
